 We are currently seeking volunteers for the following positions:

Lizzy’s Closet Volunteer

Position Summary: Looking for dedicated, self motivated volunteers to assist in our Closet program 1-2 days (2-4 hrs per day) a week, Monday – Thursday. The tasks/duties include sorting clothing, logging intake and working directly with participants in Lizzy’s Closet (every other Thursday).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. This volunteer ran program is offered to provide quality, gently used clothing and toiletries to women in need who may be attending court, school, working, job interviews or in emergency situations.
  2. Sorting clothing in an organized and accessible manner.
  3. Assists women with selecting appropriate items in a non-judgmental manner.

Maintain appropriate records to ensure statistics are documented accurately, and confidentially.

Qualifications
This position requires some experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and an ability to give direction towards community resources

Discretionary customer service experience highly preferred.

Ability to work as a team member, with a high degree of self-reliance and independence.

Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.

A  criminal record check is required for this position.

Court Support Volunteer

Position Summary: The Court Support Volunteer provides support to women and youth appearing in criminal and family court in Kamloops. Must be able to work minimum one day a week, Monday-Thursday from 8:30am – 12pm. Due to training requirements we ask for a 1 year volunteer commitment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Provides advocacy and support to those who are appearing in court in Kamloops – Provincial Court and Supreme Court.
  2. Provides appropriate community referrals to women appearing in court in Kamloops.
  3. Maintains appropriate records and statistics and ensures all documentation is accurate, complete and confidential.

Qualifications:

Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.

Ability to work as a team member, but with a high degree of self-reliance and independence.

A satisfactory criminal records check is required for this position.

Volunteer Coordinator

Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Volunteer Coordinator position requires 2-3 hours a week spent reviewing volunteer applications and replying to incoming emails regarding position details. The coordinator recruits volunteers and arranges interviews with applicants and program coordinators.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Review volunteer applications
  2. Maintain knowledge of need for volunteers in Society programs
  3. Conduct initial screening of volunteers
  4. Match applicants with programs
  5. Find innovative ways to recruit volunteers

Qualifications:

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Proficient in use of computers

Ability to use Microsoft Office applications

Knowledgeable in the operation of a variety of office equipment

Work with information requiring a high level of confidentiality

Able to take initiative

Able to accept and utilize supervision

Ability to work independently

Hearts for Homes Gala Committee Members

Position Summary: The Hearts for Homes Gala Committee plans and executes the annual gala event in November.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Attend monthly meetings; frequency of meetings could increase closer to event date.
2. Event logistics
3. Request sponsorships and donations.
4. Media promotions

Qualifications:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Able to take initiative

• Ability to work independently and as part of a group

• Event planning experience an asset

Additional Information:

• A commitment till November 30, 2015 is required.
