PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM:
The Poverty Law advocate will provide assistance to people living on low incomes with basic legal problems, questions or concerns about:
The Advocate can assist with:
· Informal advocacy services by contacting other parties (including government ministries, businesses, and private individuals) to help resolve issues
· Formal representation at administrative tribunals and dispute resolution hearings, where appropriate and when available
· Public legal education and community liaison
Legal information and advice is provided under the supervision of a lawyer.
THIS PROGRAM IS FOR:
People who live in poverty with immediate legal problems dealing with issues that affect their ability to feed, clothe or house themselves.
HOW TO ACCESS THE PROGRAM:
Individuals can self refer or can be referred from another agency as appropriate.
